Meet our elders

Meet our elders

The elders have overall pastoral concern for the spiritual and practical needs of the church family and are also passionate about training and equipping others both to serve Jesus in the church, and to live for him through every part of their lives.

Tim, Ade and Kiran are the elders at East Street Baptist Church. They have the joy and responsibility, under God, for prayerfully leading the church, setting the vision and direction, and ensuring that we remain firmly true to the Bible in all that we do. Through the preaching and teaching, they seek to clearly point to Jesus, applying his Word for people in all stages of life and faith. They are also sometimes called “Pastors” because they care for the members like shepherds care for sheep, as undershepherds under Jesus.

There is no distinction between them in terms of authority or seniority. We don’t believe in a hierarchy within eldership, they are all equally pastors of the church. That said, Tim and Kiran are paid to work full time as elders of the church and so do the majority of the teaching and preaching.

Both Tim and Ade are local lads, having grown up in and around Walworth and the surrounding areas. This has given them a particular care for it, they both care deeply about the area they grew up in and want nothing more than to see God at work in Walworth, saving souls and transforming lives. Kiran is newer to both the eldership and the area, and often brings a fresh perspective. He is passionate about building up the church by opening up the Word of God and hearing it speak, clearly, to us, today.
